We’d like applicants from all rural NSW communities, including on farm positions, agricultural industries, rural businesses and community support workers.

In 2009 finalists included a dairy herd manager, an agronomist, a farm supply merchandiser and an assistant accountant – so whatever your background, if you’re passionate about rural NSW, we want to hear from you.

Entry is open to both male and female NSW residents aged 20 – 27.

You must be available to participate in the full nine day award program, which will coincide with the Sydney Royal Easter Show held from 1 – 14 April 2010.

The top 30 applicants will be invited to an interview style judging session held in three separate regional locations, Wagga Wagga, Orange and Tamworth. The judging panel will question each applicant on their areas of interest outlined in the application form including rural and community involvement. Eight winning Rural Achiever finalists will be chosen to participate in the Award program in 2010.

The judging panel for the RAS Rural Achiever Award consist of:

  • John B. Fairfax AO, Senior Vice-President of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW
  • Jenny Dudley, Sydney Royal Fine Food Show Chief Steward and wife of RAS President
  • John Dwyer, General Manager of The Land
  • David Moor, President of the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW
