Spring 2007 Fine Food Show Highlights

Spring 2007 Fine Food Show Highlights

The RAS would like to thank all the Exhibitors in the Spring 2007 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show for their recent participation in the Spring Competitions.  The Show was a great success and the standard of Competition was once again extremely promising.

This event represents tradition and over a century of Competition at the highest level.  The Show provides a platform for innovation and development and is a showcase of the strength and diversity of the industry.  Producers are able to measure their products against the best in the industry while at the same time promoting their products under the respected and valued Sydney Royal brand.

Five Gold Medals were awarded in the Olive Oil Competition, indicating a significant improvement in the industry; no Gold Medal had been won in this Competition since 2004.

Entries across all the Competitions were up, with a considerable increase of around 23% in the Regional Food Competition.  A total of nine Gold Medals, a Competition record, were awarded.

Another first in Aquaculture came with Gold in Barramundi.  Two Gold Medals in the Branded Beef Competition signified a promising standard in the section.  Out of the 16 entries, 11 Medals were awarded. Entries also enjoyed a 60% increase.

New Classes in the Cake and Pastry Section and a 25% increase in the entries for the Bread, Cake & Pie Competition were key to the success of the section.

Sausages were awarded 10 Gold Medals in the Deli Meat Section.  Now including 43 classes, the Competition produced some very special exhibitions and the overall quality was outstanding.

Once again a Champion Product will be chosen as a finalist in the President's Medal, joining nominees from the Sydney Royal Wine Show and the Cheese & Dairy Produce Show.  The President's Medal is a prestigious award that represents the very highest standards of sustainability, profitability, and consumer appeal.

This year’s Competitions have been greatly enhanced by the contributions of our Sponsors.  In particular, a number of Competitions have enjoyed first time sponsorship, which has helped improve overall standards. The Branded Beef Competition was sponsored by Meat & Livestock Australia, the NSW Food Authority supported the Champion Regional Food Exhibit, the Deli Meat Competition was supported by Kerry Ingredients and Olivegrower & Processor Magazine proudly supported the Olive Oil Competition. Thanks to all our sponsors for their continued support in making the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show an outstanding showpiece for agricultural Competition in Australia.
