Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What products are judged in the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show?
Answer: The Sydney Royal Fine Food Show consists of ten separate Competitions and is held in two stages throughout the year to support the seasonality of produce.

The breakdown is as follows:

Summer Sydney Royal Fine Food Show

  • Beer
  • Coffee
  • Bread, Cake & Pie
  • Aquaculture (Sydney Rock Oysters, Prawns, Smoked Salmon & Smoked Ocean Trout products)
  • Pasta

Spring Sydney Royal Fine Food Show

  • Branded Beef
  • Branded Lamb
  • Deli Meat
  • Olive Oil
  • Aquaculture (Pacific & Angasi Oysters, Barramundi)
  • Regional Food

Question: Can I attend the Judging?
Answer: No, judging of the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show is closed to the public. Media and industry representatives are invited to witness the judging however an appointment must be made prior to judging.

Question: When are results available?
Answer: Results will be available on the website at 5pm the day after judging of each Competition finishes. Results Catalogues, containing point scores for all entries and class comments from the Judges will be mailed to all Exhibitors approximately three weeks after judging.

Question: What happens after I send in my form?
Answer: Entry forms will be processed in the week after the closing date of entries. After this you will be sent an Exhibitor Confirmation pack containing labels to put on your Exhibits and instructions for delivery.

Question: Who are the Judges?
Answer: Judging panels are made up of a selection of industry representatives ranging from technical experts to chefs and end users. Judges names are not released prior to the Show but will be listed in the Results Catalogue.

Question: What happens if I win a Medal?
Answer: Your results pack will contain the certificate for your win and a letter containing instructions on downloading the artwork from our website. You will need to have your designers/printers amend the artwork to insert the class number for which you won and you will then be able to use the artwork on promotion of the products that won the medal.

Question: How can I get feedback from the Judges?
Answer: Your results pack will contain an individual Exhibitor Feedback Report detailing your point scores in each of the judging criteria.

Question: Is there an award ceremony?
Answer: All Gold medal winners will be invited to attend the Awards Presentation Luncheon held during the Easter Show where the Champion and Most Successful Exhibitor Awards will be presented. You have to have won at least one Gold medal to be eligible for either of these awards.  

Question: When do entries close?
Answer: Entries for the 2009 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show Competitions close on different dates according to the Competition, please click on the Show Details link on the left hand navigation to see specific closing dates. To submit an entry after this date, please contact the Fine Food Coordinator.

Question: Do I send my exhibits in with my application form?
Answer: No, we only initially need your application form. The delivery date and delivery instructions are provided with your Exhibitor Confirmation pack, sent approximately 2-3 weeks after the closing date of entries.
